The Boom Boom is here, the weather is actually winter-ish, the barricades are out and many King Cakes have been consumed. Ahh, it’s Boozie’s favorite time of the year! I can’t wait for y’all to really start misbehavin’, not that you didn’t do a fine job last weekend.
Mardi Gras is my busiest time of year and me and the ol’ liver are ready. Now all y’all have to do is get out there and party! I don’t have time for y’all to be behaving yourselves.
All the single ladies
This past Saturday night, The Spinsters had their ball at the Mobile Carnival Museum. The Spinsters’ organization is made up of unmarried women ranging in age from 21 to 25, and let’s just say those ladies know how to party.
Boozie doesn’t think an open bar has ever poured so many drinks. Not to mention the amount of “pre-gaming” that goes on beforehand. Ahh, it reminds Boozie of her college days. Boozie’s spy said although the party was a lot of fun, everyone was ready to head to the bars, and boy did they. In almost every bar you could spot girls in their brightly colored outfits and guys in tuxes with leis on.
The party didn’t stop there, as many girls and their dates were seen visiting the LoDa hot dog vendor. Nothing like a little wiener to round out the night. Ladies and gentlemen, I’m here all week!
Order of Osiris gives their regards
This past Friday the Order of Osiris gathered at the Mobile Convention Center to recognize their emblems — Osiris, Isis and Horus — along with King Peter the 34th and King Judson the 34th. The emblems opened the ball with Osiris, who set the tone of the night … majesty, music and true fun!!
As guests entered they were greeted with a night on Broadway. One spy was most impressed with the Manhattan cityscape with various Broadway logos rotating … with marquee lights! The costumes this year were over the top! The music was mixed to let the crowd know these members wanted the guests to rock!! From Times Square to “Kinky Boots,” to “Evita” and “Moulin Rouge” … simply perfection! Our spy says if you missed, shame, shame on you, but be ready for next year when Queen Kimmie the 34th and Queen Barcaly the 34th reign over the next ball!!
The Order of Phoenix a refined affair
On Saturday night, my spies at the Order of Phoenix Ball at Fort Whiting said it was a “refined and elegant affair” with beautiful floral arrangements on the tables. While the tables may have screamed elegance, my spy said the tableau was quite fun and “cheeky,” including a duo who dressed as Bruce and Caitlyn Jenner. Oh my!
Well, kids, that’s all I’ve got this week but the Boom Boom is just getting going. SO, just remember, whether rain or shine, dramatic or scandalous, or just some plain ol’ Broadway tune lovin’, I will be there. Ciao!
