To the Editor:
Bravo and Hear! Hear! to Caroline Bates-Hoffman (Letter to the Editor, 8/12/20). I too am a Democratic voter in Mobile. I am 73, a native of Mobile and a member of the LGBTQ community.
Our voices are growing louder than ever as we have been pushed to the brink following the election of the current POTUS, Donald J Trump, and his lawless appointees and enablers such as those from Alabama, Richard Shelby, Bradley Byrne and now Tommy Tuberville.
I accept that Lagniappe is now my hometown newspaper and I am one of many who came to your rescue as a new subscriber during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now I want something in return: a political voice in Lagniappe that represents me, Democrat, Progressive and outspoken activist. I read your editorials but all I read is conservative, Republican talking points and few, if any, Progressive talking points. It is time for a dedicated “Liberal” voice from the editorial pages of Lagniappe. Mobile grows more “Blue” every year, but when and where are our views represented inside this regional South Alabama political “Red Zone”? Lagniappe is our only outlet for now and we want a seat at the table.
