Mobile has evolved into a town with a songwriter addiction. Local music lovers cannot get enough of those talented people who can snatch pieces of life and transform them into a musical experience. With this local passion in mind, the Jewel on Joachim is bringing John Hiatt, one of modern music’s most iconic songwriters, to its stage.
Hiatt has spent the past 40 years penning songs loved by not only his fans but also his fellow artists. Hiatt’s songs have been covered by Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, Iggy Pop, Emmylou Harris and many others. Now, Hiatt is touring in support of his latest release, “Terms of My Surrender.” This legend’s trademark vocals croon through tales covering everything from taking spiritual inventory to getting kicked out of the house.
An “international treasure” will be joining Hiatt at the Saenger. Taj Mahal’s blues style has earned him numerous Grammy awards and the adoration of music lovers worldwide. His versions of “She Caught the Katy” and “Statesboro Blues” are celebrated by blues enthusiasts worldwide, and he’s successfully evolved his sound with each passing generation. Mahal’s sheer musical talent has allowed him to remain relevant in modern times and still gather fans with each new album and live performance.
