Many along the Gulf Coast recognize the beach as the best place to celebrate the Fourth of July. Before the fireworks burst over the Gulf of Mexico, Lucy Buffett’s LuLu’s will give the gathered multitudes a local soundtrack for their patriotic festivities.
Mobile’s Lee Yankie will kick off the day’s musical entertainment. Since 2004, Yankie has established a reputation as a talented local musician both solo and with his group The Hellz Yeah. He accents his shows with driving guitar work and a pristine vocal style that takes the air of a church revival.
As the sun sets, Gulf Shores’ Brent Burns will take the stage. This LuLu’s regular is the king of the Gulf Coast Trop Rock scene. Over the years, the prolific singer-songwriter has released 13 albums filled with a lighthearted, beach-side vibe. Burns’ latest release is “Hard to be Buffett (Sometimes),” filled with a collection of personal insights into everything from New Orleans to life as a Trop Rocker.
