Most who recall the music of the ‘70s tend to focus on the funk and disco that dominated the era. However, the decade was also filled with a number of great rock outfits that ruled the mainstream and the radio waves. Taking its name from a technique used by indigenous Australians to keep warm on an extremely cold evening, Three Dog Night jumped into the national spotlight in 1969 with its first hit single, “One.”
When the ‘70s arrived, Three Dog Night established itself internationally with a string of radio hits. 1971 proved one of the band’s biggest years, with hits such as “Joy to the World,” “Never Been to Spain” and “An Old Fashioned Love Song” reaching a multitude of listeners. As the decade unfolded, barely a year went by without a Three Dog Night single finding its way onto the charts.
While just two of the band’s original three members remain, Three Dog Night’s live shows tend to be ‘70s rock revivals that please new and old fans alike.
