After a warrant was issued for his arrest, Mobile County Public School teacher Deandre Gerard Hill turned himself in to police.Hill, 32, was charged with sexual contact with a student under the age of 19 and is currently being held at the Mobile Metro Jail.
According to school records, Hill is a language arts teacher for 7th and 8th grade students at Denton Middle School in Mobile.
Police say a warrant for Hill’s arrest was signed on Tuesday after a female student at a Mobile County middle school reported to school officials Hill had made statements of a sexual nature to her while she was in his classroom.
Mobile Police conducted an investigation in cooperation with the Child Advocacy Center after the warrant was issued.
Update: It’s now being reported Hill has resigned his position as a teacher for the Mobile County Public School System.
Update to the update: Mobile Police are now saying Hill remains employed with MCPSS.
