If you just can’t get enough of those hot historical sounds that echoed through the stone Gothic halls of Dark Ages Europe, then we’ve got just the event for you. And the setting couldn’t be more appropriate.
A requiem mass in traditional Latin rites will be held at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Mobile Aug. 1. As if that wasn’t enough to get you in the medieval mood, the music will complete the effect.
Director Christopher Uhl will lead Musica Sacra through Gabrial Fauré’s Requiem in the setting for which the composer designed the piece. It also includes Gregorian Chant Propers. Currently in its 27th year of performance under Uhl, the chamber choir will feature organist Jeff Clearman, soprano Victoria Turner and baritone Kenneth Weber.
