Spanish Fort City Councilman Bill Menas recently announced he will run seek another term in the council’s District 2 seat. Menas was appointed to the position in 2014 to fulfill the term previously held by Dennis Dismukes.
“I love serving the citizens of Spanish Fort and look forward to continuing those efforts for another term,” Menas said. “As our city continues to grow, I would like to be part of a team that assures it is smart growth. I want to make sure we continue to put the citizens of Spanish Fort first.”
Menas and his family have been actively involved in Spanish Fort for almost two decades. Having served the last two years on the council, Menas understands the fantastic opportunities that lay ahead for Spanish Fort, as well as its challenges.
“We have developed new recreation parks, improved city medians, connected city sidewalks and provided support of various school programs but, there is more to do. “ Menas said. “I want to make sure we are keeping the citizens informed that’s why I am currently working on a city ‘app’ that will notify citizens of emergencies and keep them informed of upcoming events.”
Menas is also actively involved in volunteering and advocating on behalf of Spanish Fort schools and is often called on by city and county leaders to share his ideas and vision.
“Overall, I want to maintain the path of excellence that has been established at Spanish Fort schools,” Menas said. “During my term on the council we have provided support for various school programs and I want to continue to be an advocate for our school system.”
Menas is a strong proponent of maintaining a fiscally responsible budget.
“I will continue make it a priority for the Spanish Fort Police and Fire Department to have adequate resources and equipment to protect and serve the citizens of Spanish Fort,” he said.
Menas has 33 years of business experience and has owned and operated several companies covering a broad range of business markets. He is president and CEO of BME, LLC which comprises real estate holdings, the Bill Menas Team with Bellator Real Estate and Development, Automotive Carwash Sales and Polishing Systems, and Commercial Janitorial Services.
Menas has been married to his wife, Crystal, for 31 years and they have two sons, Will and Christopher. The Menas family attends Providence United Methodist Church.
