Alabama Music Box continues to violate the Azalea City’s holiday blues with another intense show. This event will bring together some of the Southeast’s best metal acts, including one of New Orleans’ most prolific groups. Mobile will be represented by the vehemence of D.R.E.A.D., Broken Paradym and Excessum. Nashville also has a metal side, and Delta Doom will be their ambassador. Lafayette’s White Light Cemetery’s raunchy sounds will bring a taste of metal from Southern Louisiana.
New Orleans’ Crowbar will be this show’s headliner. Fronted by the charismatic Kirk Windstein (Down, Kingdom of Sorrow, Valume Nob), Crowbar (with a little nudge from Pantera’s Phil Anselmo) helped bring the New Orleans’ sludge metal sound to the world. Sludge is characterized by growling vocals and slow, driving guitars and drums. Crowbar’s most recent effort is 2011’s “Sever the Wicked Hand,” and Crowbar fans can look forward to the band’s tenth studio album in 2014.
