Band: John Milham & Friends
Date: Mondays in September
Venue: The Book Cellar at Page & Palette, 32 S. Section St., pageandpallette.com
Even though he lives in Laurel, Mississippi, drummer John Milham remains one of the busiest drummers in the local scene. From Kung Fu Mama to Grayson Capps & The Lost Cause Minstrels, this percussionist has lent his beats and rhythms to numerous musical projects. Milham is also one of the founders of the annual Mobile holiday tradition “Charlie Brown Jazz Christmas” and has been celebrating his first solo effort, “Arden’s Garden.”
For his September residency at The Book Cellar at Page & Palette, Milham and several of his collaborators will be redefining the happy hour concept with memorable performances.
Milham’s audiences have already been treated to collaborations featuring Molly Thomas and The Bodhi Trio, which also features John Cochran and Jojo Morris.
On Sept. 16, singer-songwriter Capps will be joining Milham. With their years of experience performing together, the duo should have no shortage of tunes for the crowd. Milham’s residency will conclude with a rare performance from Vibration Configuration on Sept. 23. In addition to Milham, this improv jazz group features Corky Hughes and Morris.
