Mobile County high school students arrested in separate cases of assault

Posted by Lagniappe | Sep 25, 2014 | News | 1 |

Mobile police responded to two local high schools yesterday for reports of assault.

According to officials, Murphy High School employees were attempting to control a disorderly male student when the student grabbed the principal by the hand and arm, pushing him into a locker, MPD spokeswoman Ashley Rains said.

The principal suffered injuries to a finger and the student was arrested and taken to Strickland Youth Center, Rains said.

Rains added there is no background information on the Murphy student at this time and could not comment further on the student’s disorderly conduct.

The MPD also responded to another report of assault at LeFlore High School, where a 16-year-old female student allegedly assaulted a 14-year-old male student with pepper spray while in class, Rains said.

Rains confirmed there was some type of altercation between the students before the incident occurred.

The female student was arrested on the scene and transported to Strickland Youth Center. The male student was taken to USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital for minor injuries, according to Rains.
