Greetings and salutations!
Summer is here, and it is hot, hot, hot! And what better way to kick off the summer than a tropical system heading to the northern Gulf?!? (That’s sarcasm.)
But forecasters say we may be affected by Cristobal this weekend, though it’s still too early to tell, of course. Wish I had my crystal ball for Cristobal (har, har, har). But, I expect nothing less from our good pal, 2020. So I’m making sure my supply of Spam and Beanee Weenees is up to snuff.
But before you break out the generator and put the batteries in your weather radio, we have a little gossip to get to.
Local vies for Maxim cover
Mobile native and model Mary Bragg Burmeister, who attended UMS-Wright and now lives in Los Angeles, is currently in the running to be on the cover of Maxim magazine, according to Boozie’s spies. You can check out photos of the gorgeous gal and vote for her at maximcovergirl.com/2020/mary-bragg.
At press time, she was currently in second place. So go vote, vote, vote and make sure our hometown girl gets the gold!
Oh, Gary …
Usually when locals say, “Oh, Gary …” it is to voice displeasure about whatever sports announcer Gary Danielson is saying. But since we don’t have sports, there is a new TV Gary in town to shake our heads about.
Over Memorial Day weekend, CNN reporter Gary Tuchman filed a report from The Hangout and public beaches in Gulf Shores shaming folks for not wearing masks — even though many were social distancing on the beach and didn’t need them.
It seems like Gary didn’t feel like he needed one at all times either. Apparently, a local snapped a photo of him wearing a mask while the cameras were rolling and then taking it off when they were off. This photo, which went viral around here, got picked up by the national media blog Fourth Watch.
Even if he only had his mask off for a second, I guess it just goes to show you how easy it is to make something look exactly the way you want it to.
In any case, I do hope next time we have to say “Oh, Gary,” it will be about Danielson. I think I may even miss him! No, that’s not right. I just miss football. That’s all.
Well kids, that’s all I got. Just remember, whether rain or shine, dramatic or scandalous or just some plain ol’ Gary hatin’, I will be there. Ciao!
