Public and Catholic schools in Mobile and Baldwin counties will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 5, due to the threat of hazardous weather conditions stemming from Tropical Storm Gordon.
The Archdiocese of Mobile made the announcement Tuesday afternoon following similar decisions by the Mobile County Public School System and the Baldwin County Public School System. All three systems are scheduled to resume their normal schedules on Thursday, Sept. 6.
St. Paul’s Episcopal School, UMS-Wright Preparatory School, Faith Academy will also be closed on Wednesday as will city school systems in Saraland, Satsuma and Chickasaw.
Despite the threat of severe weather, Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson has announced that city garbage services will run on their regularly scheduled routes Wednesday. Some employees were dismissed early Tuesday, but city offices will return to a normal schedule Wednesday.
