Narcotics and vice officers with the Mobile Police Department arrested 13 individuals in a prostitution operation conducted at several hotels in the Beltline area on March 16.
Dubbed the “Backpage Prostitution Operation,” police mobilized on March 16 in an effort to stop prostitution activity organized through the classified-style website backpage.com.
Authorities also said they were attempting to combat other serious crimes, like drug dealing, robberies and assaults that have also been occurring in the area.
All total, 10 women and three men are facing prostitution charges over 21 misdemeanors and one felony.
