Mobile police are investigating a possible shooting that occurred downtown early this morning.
According to MPD, at approximately 4:10 a.m., officers responded to the area of Dauphin and Franklin streets for a report of one assaulted.
The victim said an unknown male assaulted him behind Club Jagger’s, according to MPD Public Information Officer Terence Perkins.
Perkins said the man suffered injuries to his head and told police he heard a shot fired. However, it is unknown what exactly caused the injuries at this time, Perkins said.
“The fire paramedic could not determine if the injury to the head was from a gun shot or from another object,” he said.
The victim was transported to the University of South Alabama Medical Center for medical treatment.
MPD has since reported that medical staff stated the man was not shot and he was treated and released from the hospital.
Updated at 10:50 a.m. Sept. 19 to include medical staff statement from MPD.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., officers responded to the 700 block of University Blvd. for a report of one sexually assaulted, where the female victim said a man known to her forced her to unwanted sexual contact, according to Perkins.
