Mobile Police are investigating two homicides that took place early Saturday morning, one of which was the result of a reported burglary in which the homeowners shot and killed an intruder.
According to a press release from MPD, Anthony Carstarphen, 26, was shot and killed at approximately 1:45 a.m. on the 1200 block of Fearn Court after he reportedly illegally entered a home there. Police say Carstarphen was shot by one of the occupants of the house. A man and woman were there at the time.
“The male and female occupants of the home were questioned during the investigation and released. The weapon was recovered and the details were presented to the District Attorney’s Office for review. No arrests were made as the case will be presented to the Grand Jury at a later date,” the MPD press release said.
A little more than two-and-a-half hours later police were looking into another shooting death, this time in the 600 block of Azalea Road. At approximately 4:20 a.m. police were called to the scene where 26-year-old Arnez Wilkerson had been shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police are looking for Anthony Dunnigan, who they say left the scene on foot. MPD says a warrant for Dunnigan is pending and homicide detectives are continuing their investigation of Wilkerson’s death.
Police have not released further details at this time. Anyone with information about either shooting is asked to call Mobile Police at 208-7211.
