Voters in Spanish Fort granted Mayor Mike McMillan a third term in office today, after he defeated challenger Rebecca Cornelius in municipal runoff elections. McMillan got 587 of 1,010 ballots cast in the city, or 58 percent of the vote. On the City Council, District 3 will be represented by Shane Perry after he beat Wanda Finch 141-60. The seat was open after Bobby Fortenberry opted not to seek re-election.
The city of Daphne overwhelmingly chose City Council President Robin LeJeune as its next mayor. He defeated businessman and Air Force veteran Steve Carey by a vote of 2,475 to 1,438, or 63-37 percent.
In response to cleanup efforts from Hurricane Sally, the city of Gulf Shores rescheduled its runoff election until Oct. 27. There, voters will choose representatives for Place 1 and 2 on the City Council.
The city of Prichard also voted today in a runoff for mayor between Jimmie Gardner and Lorenzo Martin. Those results are pending and this post will be updated when available.
