Murder suspect attempts suicide after home search

Posted by Jason Johnson | Sep 15, 2016 | Latest, News | 0 |

A man is in a coma after police say he attempted suicide when they began to question him about an ongoing homicide investigation.

According to deputies with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, a search warrant was executed on Lake Haven Drive Thursday morning at the home of Cory Miller.

Detectives said during the search they found evidence in the home connecting Miller to a homicide investigation launched yesterday after a homeowner found a dead body inside of a garbage can along Cemetery Road in Wilmer.

However, before detectives had a chance to question Miller, he allegedly attempted suicide and is reportedly in a coma at a local hospital.

MCSO investigators are currently looking for Loren Carter, who is said to have been living with Miller at the home on Lake Haven Drive.

The investigation into the situation is continuing, and anyone with information about the crime or Carter’s whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s office 251-574-8633.

Reports can also be submitted anonymously through the sheriff’s office website at http://www.mobileso.com/report-a-crime/ or through MCSO smartphone app.
