According to Mobile Police, the suspect in a murder that occurred in the early hours of April 13 turned himself in less than 24 hours after shooting and killing a teenager.
It was around 1 a.m. at Tilman’s Park Apartments in Mobile when police say a domestic dispute between 19-year-old Tavaris Pettway and 29-year-old Coriyon Kenny turned violent. After being called for a reported shooting, police arrived at the apartment complex to find Pettway suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.
According to jail records, Kenny has a few previous charges including two counts of robbery and a subsequent probation violation. As of Thursday afternoon, he was still listed in custody at Mobile Metro Jail awaiting a court date for the murder charge.
On April 8, in the last post visible on his public Facebook profile, Kenny made several references to guns and violence, using hashtags like “gunshots” and “murdergang.”
He concluded the post saying, “give me a reason to go upstate.”
