A former USA student charged with the sexual assault and abduction of a female student on campus, is now facing charges related to a home invasion.
Mobile Police said Jawaun Maurice Dawson was armed when he forced his way into a home on the 100 block of East Drive, after a female resident opened the front door at about 3:40 p.m. on Thursday, April 24.
The victim told police Dawson struck her in the face several times and made unwanted sexual contact. Dawson took a cell phone, cash and electronics from the home, according to a police statement.
Dawson, who has already been arrested for a sexual assault and abduction on the University of South Alabama campus on April 23, is facing charges of robbery, burglary, sexual abuse and attempted sodomy for the East Drive incident.
USA Police arrested Dawson for the on-campus sexual assault late last week, after video evidence showed him using the victim’s credit card at a local convenience store, said Chief Zeke Aull.
The student told police she was abducted at gunpoint in the north chemistry parking lot on campus. She reported she was forced into her own car and sexually assaulted in the student health parking lot and Municipal Park. Dawson then took her cell phone and cash before driving her back to the student health parking lot, according to a USA statement.
