Two years ago, a group of diverse musical acts gathered together to help promote Down Syndrome awareness in Mobile County and generate funds for Down Syndrome Society of Mobile County. Since then, The Blues & Grooves Festival has grown exponentially in both size and band lineup. The festival has also grown in the number of individuals donating their time. Local businesses are also assisting through ticket sales and raffle items. All the while, this festival has built a great reputation for providing a variety of talent for the audience.
Songwriters such as Eric Erdman, Ryan Balthrop, Harrison McInnis and Lisa Mills will bring a batch of homegrown sounds to the Blues & Grooves stage. The crowd will receive a proper serving of blues from Diedra the Blues Diva, Johnny Barbato and Johnny No. After Schock & the Deep End will entertain the crowd with a vertigo of rhythms and rhymes. Stereo Dogs will prove that age does not matter when it comes to rock & roll. Finally, local favorites Chico & Chris and The Lizards will prove why they packed venues along the Gulf Coast.
In addition to the many bands that will be featured on the Blues & Grooves lineup, Therabeat, Inc. will also be included. Therabeat, Inc. specializes in pediatric music therapy. While at the festival, Therabeat will show how music can enhance the lives of children and families.
