Violinist Jesse Mills first performed with cellist Raman Ramakrishnan decades back, when they were both kids. Mills went on to draw a pair of Grammy nominations and Ramakrishnan went on to form the Daedalus Quartet.
Meanwhile, pianist Rieko Aizawa made her U.S. debuts at Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. When she crossed paths with the aforementioned string musicians, a new combo emerged.
Since their 2011 debut in New York City, the trio’s website said they have been booked for over 130 concerts in the Americas and Asia. Now they will stop in Mobile at the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center on the USA campus, March 15, 3 p.m.
Pieces scheduled for performance that day include works by Faure, Schubert and Joan Tower.
Admission is $20 for adults, $10 for students.
Mobile Chamber Music will also stage an up-close-and-personal outreach program on Saturday, March 14 at 6 p.m. at Broussard’s Piano Gallery. Space is extremely limited so interested parties should call Broussard’s at 251-344-8856 in order to reserve a place.
