BRRRRRRRRRRRR, y’all! I just can’t take this cold weather. It’s not that I don’t enjoy a change in the seasons and a nice fire in the fireplace a couple of times a year, but I just don’t have the clothes for it. By the time I order long johns and they come in, it will be 80 degrees again. So I guess I’ll just shiver through to the other side. You know what they say, “if you don’t like the weather in Mobile, just wait five minutes.” Of course, they probably say that about a lot of places. Whatever.
Let’s just all take a nip of bourbon and get on to the gossip. Cheers!
Showing your cask
The Coastal Alabama Partnership’s Bourbon by the Bay event last Sunday had all the attendees feeling warm and fuzzy. With tastings provided by Weller, Clyde May’s, Blanton’s, Booker’s, Baker’s and other brown spirits makers, a good time was certainly had by all. This was the first year it was at the beautiful new downtown event venue, Crown Hall, with Bay Gourmet providing delicious food and Fat Man Squeeze providing the tasty tunes. It really was a great event.
My spies said George Talbot and Ricardo Woods from Mayor Sandy Stimpson’s team were spotted and probably taking the edge off of the stress caused by the annexation battle. Wait. Is there enough bourbon for that?
Congressional candidate Bill Hightower was also in attendance.
There could have been more minor Mobile celebrities, but that’s all my spies noticed before getting “toasty.”
There was a cocktail competition and The Haberdasher took home the prize with their entry using a Clyde May’s bourbon. I’m told it “really hit the spot.”
Congrats to Coastal Alabama Partnership for another fantastic event!
Pickin’ and grinnin’
Announcements made by representatives from both Baldwin and Clarke counties indicate Mike and Frank from The History Channel show “American Pickers” will be in our area in December, and they are looking for your junk, or as they put it, “large, rare collections and things they have never seen before.”
I wish I hadn’t thrown out my Garbage Pail Kids collection. (That’s a Gen X joke — shut up boomers and millennials!) Anyway, if you have any such crap they may want or your crazy hoarding uncle makes for good TV, call them at 855-OLD-RUST or email them at AmericanPickers@cineflix.com.
Well kids, that’s all I have this week. Just remember, whether rain or shine (or freezing ass cold), dramatic or scandalous, or just some plain ol’ small batch bourbon lovin’, I will be there. Ciao!
