For the last three decades, Playhouse in the Park has offered a popular summer camp for aspiring performers aged 5 – 11. This introduction to stagecraft includes classes on acting, puppetry, dance and theatre arts in a three-hour unit meeting Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – noon.
The camp runs June 9 – 21. Cost is $150 for one week, $275 for two.
Another camp for more experienced youngsters is also available. That two-week event will focus on the history, performance techniques and audition “tricks” students need for a well-rounded introduction to modern musical theatre.
Three teachers lead performers through scenes and musical numbers designed to enhance their abilities for onstage success. The camp runs two weeks, June 16 –28, 1 – 4 p.m. Designed for students 8 – 19 years of age, enrollees will be placed by experience and age.
Cost is $150 per week, $275 for both weeks.
