Mobile Police are investigating a sexual assault, after a LeFlore High School student told authorities she was attacked, while walking home from the campus on Monday.

The 16-year-old victim told police she was taking a shortcut when a man grabbed her arm behind a residence on the 500 Block of Donald Street, according to an e-mail from MPD spokeswoman Ashley Rains.

The victim told police the man forced her into unwanted sexual contact before she was able to kick at him. The suspect ran off once the victim kicked him, Rains wrote.

The suspect is described as a bearded, overweight and dark-skinned man approximately 40 years old.
Residents in the area are being asked to contact police if they see anyone in the area matching the description.

Mobile County Public Schools’ spokeswoman Nancy Pierce said LeFlore Principal Alvin Dailey reminds students every day during the afternoon announcements to be safe on their trips home. The school also alerted parents after the situation through the school messenger system, Pierce said.
