The report of rape on the 300 block of Mohawk Street has been determined to be unfounded, meaning no crime occurred, according to a statement released by the Mobile Police Department Thursday.
At this time, the MPD doesn’t expect to press charges against the woman who made the report, wrote spokeswoman Charlette Solis in an email message Friday morning.
The allegation was made on Sept. 17 by a 38-year-old woman who told police an unknown male forced her into her residence and sexually assaulted her.
She had described the subject as unknown, a white male in his early 30s around six feet tall, average build, bald head, and wearing a grey button down shirt. The woman stated he fled in a four-door black pickup truck.
A similar description to what police released today began circulating via social media and text messages shortly after the report was made. The description at that time was said to have been attributed to the victim.
Through investigation, police located the male subject and interviewed him. The woman finally admitted to police that she met the male subject through a dating website and that the sex was consensual.
