Police announced on Wednesday that a kidnapping in September was falsely reported to police, and the victim has since been arrested on multiple charges.
On Sept. 29, Mobile Police officers responded to a report of a kidnapping made by 25-year-old Quintonia Jones.According to police, she initially told investigators that a male acquaintance forced her away from an area near Durant Street at gunpoint before forcing her to go into several banks to cash stolen checks.
Jones said she was later released unharmed.
Though few details have been released, the MPD recently made an announcement that Jones’ story was false. She booked into the Mobile Metro Jail on Tuesday and charged with four counts of possession of forged instruments (bad checks) and an additional charge of reporting a false crime.
Online records show Jones was still in custody as of 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
