When the autumnal equinox arrives, the artists under the Portal Studios banner plan on unveiling their new facility in one of their four seasonal fundraisers. The spot four blocks north of Dauphin marks a branching out from the customary Artwalk path along downtown’s most traveled thoroughfare.
On tap for this multi-media house-warming soiree is music from Leland Clay, Cameron Simpson, Ashlea Penquite and Jordan Kinsey.
Lillian McKinney and Portal improv/noise collective will unveil performances art pieces. Timothy Dixon is on the slate with projection art.
Bakalava belly dancers will be on hand with original choreography and a tabla drummer.
Other featured exhibitions include black light sacred geometric paintings, fire breathing, hula hoop poi, blacksmithing and napping knives demonstrations. A barter and trade market will take place.
Portal studio artists April Hopkins, Zach DePolo, and Sasha Shirazi will work on a fusion collaboration painting with guest artist Sol Davis.
A $5 donation at the door is requested. The event is scheduled to last until midnight.
