Police say a Mobile man serving time for theft and drug charges walked off a work release site yesterday evening and is still not accounted for.

According to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, Darrell Robinson, 45, was working with other inmates at a site for Gulf Distributing near the intersection of Moffett Road and Interstate 65 when he left on foot Thursday afternoon around 6:20 p.m.

He was currently serving time for theft of property and drug paraphernalia charges that stemmed from a 2014 arrest. Robinson has an extensive criminal history in the county dating back to 1988, but most of those charges are non-violent theft and drug charges.

Still, MCSO officials are urging the public to be on the lookout for Robinson. Anyone with information is asked to call the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department at (251) 574-2423 or report the information via their anonymous CrimeTips page.
