Puccini on tap for lifelong learning

Posted by Kevin Lee | Sep 3, 2014 | Art Gallery | 0 |

If you’ve ever had an inkling that you’re missing something in opera and want to get up to speed then now is your chance. The University of South Alabama’s Odyssey program has a class just for you.

The lifelong learning program announced its fall term for Oct. 3 – Nov. 21 and front and center is a course entitled “Life and Operas of Puccini.” Mobile Opera Artistic Director Andy Anderson will be the instructor for the class that runs in eight one-hour sessions. Class times are Fridays, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.

Other courses being offered for the fall term focus on the religion of Islam, genealogy, a combo geology/geography/meteorology study, neurobics and gardening for fall and winter. Membership for two quarters runs $60 and a full year is $110.

An introductory seminar will be presented at the West Regional Branch of the Mobile Public Library (5555 Grelot Road) on Sept. 12, 2:30 – 4 p.m. Attendees can meet instructors, administrators and students to see what the program is all about.
