Rangeline Road railroad crossing repair will add 10-mile detour

Posted by Scott Johnson | May 10, 2022 | Latest, News | 0 |

Four miles of Rangeline Road between Hamilton Boulevard and Laurendine Road will be closed for 10 days beginning Tuesday, May 17.

The closure will result in a 10-mile detour for those attempting to navigate to Dauphin Island Parkway.

To navigate around the worksite, motorists are being advised to take Hamilton Boulevard to US 90 to Bellingrath Road and finally to Laurendine Road to navigate back to SR-193.

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT)’s Southwest Regional office announced the closures Monday afternoon as a joint project with CSX Corporation to repair the Rangleline Road railroad crossing just south of Hamilton Boulevard.

The scope of the project includes the removal and replacement of the existing tub rail crossing. Once the new rail crossing is installed, ALDOT will contract to perform the necessary concrete placement, roadway resurfacing and striping work at the site.
