Rat Pack ring-a-ding with MSO

Posted by Kevin Lee | Oct 8, 2014 | Art Gallery | 0 |

Dust off your fedoras and skinny ties, the cocktail hour is at hand! No Don Drapers to be had here, just hours of the music that kept the Cold War hot and the Jet Age soaring when the Mobile Pops launch the 16th season of Mobile Symphony.

Conductor Scott Speck is eager to take his musicians through original big-band arrangements through territory new to some but they’ll be accompanied by a familiar name. Vocalist Steve Lippia has worked with Speck four times and brings a heady resume that includes packed engagements in both Atlantic City and Las Vegas.

The Mobile show will feature crooners’ classics such as “Come Fly with Me,” “My Way,” “What Kind of Fool am I,” “Fly Me to the Moon,” “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” and many more.

Saturday’s show begins at 8 p.m. and the Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets range from $20 to $65 and can be purchased by calling the MSO box office at 251-432-2010, in person at 257 Dauphin St. or online at www.mobilesymphony.org.

More details and a complete schedule of the MSO’s 2014-2015 season, including a downloadable brochure, can be found online at www.mobilesymphony.org.
