Callaghan’s is bringing another huge night of music to its intimate space on Thursday, July 23. Andrew Combs will open the evening’s lineup. Hailing from further north on I-65 in Nashville, Combs is proving that the Music City’s trademark genre is still evolving.
The singer-songwriter has been promoting his sophomore album, “All These Dreams,” and has mastered the art of storytelling with a soulful sound and profound lyrics. Some say he’s picked up where Jim Croce left off. His set should be a perfect warm-up for the evening’s headliner.
Humming House will round out the night. Another product of Nashville, the group prides itself on a pristine acoustic sound, best experienced in a live setting. With flawless instrumentals, one of the most appealing aspects is expert mingling of male and female harmonies, producing a unique brand of modern Americana that easily shifts into the traditional.
Last March, Humming House released its second album, “Revelries.” While it includes a few slow ballads, the album is appropriately titled for its overall upbeat vibe. Throughout, the band mixes jazz, blues, folk, country and bluegrass.
It’s a night that will definitely have the entire house (and sidewalk) on its feet and dancing.
