Several months ago, Lagniappe Weekly introduced its readers to Greg “Red” Padilla and his Red & the Revelers project. At that time, he was celebrating the release of his jaunty stoner soul single “Rainy Day Suggestion.”
Now, Padilla will be returning to the Cedar Street Social Club’s stage to introduce the public to his debut full-length, “The Wizard & the Witch.”
The crowd will sample tracks such as “Howlers,” an intricate dose of modern soul, filled with effortless vocal bends sandwiched between Padilla’s gentle growls. “Astaroth’s Lament” provides musical cinematics at its finest with haunting arrangements cradling Padilla’s soulful vocal dramatics in the tradition of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins.
Padilla will be in good company with a trio of special guest bands that will bring a little something for everybody. Outlawz Brass Band will once again take the stage alongside Red & the Revelers. Whether in the club or on the streets, this collective of brass enthusiasts energize the room. South Mississippi jam rockers Midnight Revel will also be lending support. This group will be performing cuts from its latest album “Desperate Times & Blind Eyes.” A Sunday Fire will be the line-up’s wild card. This Azalea City pop punk group has thrilled cities across the nation with its high-energy live show.
