I was thrilled with your suggestion for a park or river walk at the old USA golf course. I do, however, believe a river walk between Church Street and the train terminal would be more convenient to those coming here for a convention or on a cruise ship and residents of Mobile, rather than having to take a bus to the Brookley Aeroplex.
I realize the land downtown is occupied by the Port Authority and this may be difficult to accomplish. However, Denver traded land with the railroads and moved the rail yards away from downtown and Portland moved their interstate. The new larger ships do not have the room to turn around in our river, so a move to a larger area may be palatable. With a private/public partnership that includes high-density housing and retail, maybe this could be cost effective.
