Pikkihead Militia is more than just a band. This group represents the growing sonic diversity in the local music scene. Three years ago, Pikkihead Militia added reggae to the local musical mix. When the group first started, half of the band members were full-time residents of the Azalea City, while the rest held onto roots in Jamaica.
Even so, they maintained regular local performances to keep their exotic sounds in local ears. As far as the band’s philosophies are concerned, Pikkihead Militia creates music for more than just entertainment purposes. They also hope to educate with spiritual and political substance inspired by life.
Pikkihead Militia will entertain their Peoples Room audience with cuts from the band’s debut album, “It’s All About Me.” With its commentary on domestic violence, the title track opens this album with insightful lyrics, mesmerizing rhythms and warm horns.
“Fame & Glory” is a spiritual testimony that inspires both lyrically and musically. Pikkihead Militia’s musical versatility is witnessed through the track “Game of Fools,” where reggae meets modern jazz. “Sunshine” is the perfect accompaniment to a day in the surf and sun.
With The Peoples Room’s tradition of telling the story behind the song, Pikkihead Militia’s intimate performance will be a great opportunity to dig deeper into this original release.
