While Flora-Bama is touted as one of the greatest roadhouses in existence, this beachside venue is also known as a legendary honky-tonk. This installment of the Last Honky-Tonk Music Series will celebrate the life and music of one of the region’s most beloved country artists.
For almost two decades, Wayne Mills brought his traditional country act to various watering holes across the Southeast. Along with his great music, Mills brought with him a memorable personality that affected everyone around him. In 2013, Mills’ life was cut short by Nashville bar owner Chris Ferrell, who was later convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Even though Mills is gone, both his music and the positive effect he had on people remain. “The Songs of Wayne Mills” will be a chance for an army of performers to provide verbal and sonic testimony of Mills’ legacy. The lineup includes Dallas Moore, Mudbone, Shannon Lawson, Kyle Wilson, Davis Nix, Jarrod Barrier, Jill Kinsey, Leith Lofton, Brigitte London, Hal Bruni, Moondawg Hall, Caspar McWade, Donna Slater, Albert Simpson, Bert David Newton, J.D. Outlaw, Jon Cook, T-Bone Montgomery, Laney Strickland, Jason Justice, Craig Gerdes, Jarod Foster, Daryl Wayne Dasher, Brian DeBruler, James Parks, and Three Chords and the Truth.
