Mayor Sandy Stimpson today announced that the grand opening of Riverside Ice will be Nov. 19. This rink will kick off the holiday season with a lineup of jubilant and festive activities for all ages.
“Riverside Ice will be bigger and better than ever,” Stimpson said. “There is no better place to skate than on the waterfront of Mobile, Alabama with our beautiful skyline as a backdrop. The holiday season is an important time for our community to come together, and this is one way we can all celebrate.”
The city will be providing ice skating lessons at Riverside Ice this holiday season for both the young and the young at heart. Children can learn to ice skate every Saturday and adults can learn every Sunday from Nov. 20 through Jan. 10. Each class will cost $15. Private lessons will also be offered for the cost of $20 for 20 minutes and $30 for 30 minutes. To reserve the rink for parties, field trips and corporate functions, please contact Elizabeth Egetoe at email@example.com.
This year, there will be a special guest appearance on the rink. Santa Claus will fly down from the North Pole to Riverside Ice on November 26.
The rink will be open seven days a week operating from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Riverside Ice will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day and will close early on Christmas Eve at 4 p.m. The final day to skate will be Jan. 14.
Admission for skating will be $10 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. This includes the cost of skate rentals. For more information, visit www.RiversideIce.com.
