See the delta in October with two special Blakeley cruises

Posted by Lagniappe | Sep 29, 2021 | Community News | 0 |

SUBMITTED — Historic Blakeley State Park is celebrating the arrival of cooler fall weather on two special cruises from the park dock into the scenic and historic Mobile-Tensaw Delta this month.

On Saturday, Oct. 9, we take a site-seeing cruise through the Delta combined with a seafood lunch at one of the Mobile area’s favorite restaurants! Departing from the Blakeley dock at 10:30 a.m., we’ll venture through one of the nation’s most biodiverse ecosystems as we wind our way to the popular Bluegill Restaurant on the Mobile Causeway. Afterwards we will make a way back to the park, keeping an eye out for some of the area’s famed wildlife, such as alligators, ospreys, bald eagles, and numerous other species of plants and animals unique to this area. Cruise tickets are only $39.99 and include lunch.

On Thursday, October 21, we take another of our popular seasonal trips along the storied waters of the Mobile River with award-winning historian John Sledge. Along this three-hour voyage of historical discovery, Sledge brings to light numerous stories from the Delta region’s rich past. Copies of his books, including The Mobile River, will be available for purchase during the cruise. The cruise is only $39 for adults.

For reservations for either cruise, visit the park’s events page at www.blakelelypark.com. The Delta Explorer is a U.S. Coast Guard inspected vessel operated by licensed captains. The Park, the area’s longest-running Delta cruise provider, is located on State Hwy. 225 about five miles north of Spanish Fort. For more information to go the events page at www.blakeleypark.com.
