It’s spring break, y’all! Let’s do some Jell-O shots and make bad decisions. Yes, I know we are old and sitting at our desks at work. But isn’t doing a Jell-O shot at work a bad decision? Yes! Two birds with one stone, and now we feel like we are 22 again. But we may now also be unemployed. We will think about that later.
Anyway, I have some really good stuff for you this week, and I have bottled it all up. Just go ahead and take a swig. Enjoy!
Message in a Bottle
Last week, we told you the story of a Dauphin Island condo sign that was washed away by Hurricane Zeta and floated up near South Padre Island in Texas. This week, a visitor found a legit “message in a bottle” washed up on the shores of Dauphin Island and posted it to the DI community Facebook page, saying it had a message we all needed to hear right now. No word on where it was tossed from, but it read:
I am writing this with the faith that God will guide it to the person who needs to hear this message at this time.
I lost my oldest son just over six months ago unexpectedly on Sept. 13, 2020. Kole was just 21, his life was just getting started and in the blink of an eye, he was gone.
What I want you to know that in the darkest moment, when you feel like everything is falling apart and no one cares, just know that someone does. There will always be someone that you mean the world to. You may not even realize how much you mean to that person. But you are here for a reason, your life is important.
I know without a doubt that Kole knew how much I loved and adored him. I know he is with me now every day guiding me and watching me live for him. Kole was the most amazing son a mother could ever ask for, he had a heart of gold and cared about everyone he came into contact with. Kole would put himself out just to make sure everyone else was taken care of. In the world as it is right now, we need more Koles. Go out and be a “Kole” in this cold world, believe it or not your kindness will make a difference to someone!
So, from this heartbroken mom in Iowa, I want you to know that YOU matter … YOU are important … YOU were created to do something great. And if no one else has told you today, I think you are amazing just the way you are and I love you. I love you because God created you with a purpose and I believe you will find that purpose and do wonderful things.
The letter was unsigned. But safe to say, many of us did need to hear her words right now. We hope this sweet mom is still doing OK.
What is …?
Last week, one of my TV-quiz-game-loving spies — and trust me, I have a lot of those — let me know our beautiful bay had made an appearance on “Jeopardy!” How fancy!
The clue read, “With boating, camping and fishing, Alabama’s Meaher State Park is on this bay that’s an arm of the Gulf of Mexico.”
I consider us more the ear of the Gulf of Mexico, but I guess an arm will do.
Alright, kids, that’s all I got this week. Just remember, whether rain or shine, dramatic or scandalous or some plain ol’ message in a bottle lovin’, I will be there. Ciao!
