On Saturday Shoe Station will hold a fundraiser to support the family of fallen Mobile Police Department officer Justin Billa.
Mobile locations at the Shoppes of Bel Air and Hillcrest as well as the Spanish Fort location, and the Foley location will donate $1 per pair of shoes sold Saturday from 3 p.m. to closing.
Billa was killed in the line of duty on Tuesday, Feb. 20.
The company will also accept checks for the fund the MPD has set up for his family.
Shoe Station also asks that if you cannot join on Saturday you help the
family at the website the City of Mobile Police Department has set up.
This initiative was employee driven. A large number of employees brought
this up at our most recent meeting and discussed ways in which Shoe
Station could help.
“When our people saw how the city and much of America came together to support this young man’s family,” said Shoe Station President Brent Barkin said in a statement, “The employees wanted to see what they could do to help. This endeavor is a result of their efforts.”
Employees are also encouraged to donate and participate.
