The Mobile Symphony Orchestra is providing a new twist on their customary Holiday Pops show by bringing in harmonic heavyweights Pentatonix, an a capella group who won NBC’s “Sing Off” competition. The combo are touring Europe at the moment and will be freshly stateside when they appear at the Saenger for their first ever performance with a symphony orchestra.
Though a sizable portion of the show will feature spur of the moment work by the vocalists, inside sources tell us the orchestrated numbers will include “Carol of the Bells,” “Angel We Have Heard On High,” “O Come, O Come Emanuel” and others including an original work entitled “Aha.” Pentatonix latest album is flying from the shelves and this show is guaranteed to feature works from it.
Saturday’s show begins at 8 p.m. Sunday’s matinee is at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are $20 – $65. For more info, call 251-432-2010 or go to www.mobilesymphony.org.
