The South Alabama men’s basketball program has added two transfer players in recent days. The players — Auburn guard Tyrell “Turbo” Jones and TCU forward Diante Smith — will not be eligible to play for the Jaguars until the 2021-22 season. Both will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Jones is a 6-foot-1 former four-star recruit from West Oaks Academy in Orlando, Fla. He played in seven games with Auburn this season before entering the transfer portal. He averaged 3.3 points a game for the Tigers.
He announced his decision to join the Jags’ program via Twitter this week. He left the Auburn program prior to the Christmas break.
Smith, a 6-6 former three-star recruit out of Choctawhatchee High School in Ft. Walton, Fla., played in just four games with TCU this season before entering the transfer portal. He scored just six points this season in those four games.
