South Baldwin Community Theater presents the first of their Young Artist Series for 2014 – 2015 when “Rapunzel” takes the stage in mid-October. Directed by Jan Hinnen and Cailey Mize, the show features a back story to the old children’s tale of long locks and imprisoned gals.
In this version, a young woman’s unquenchable yen for a vegetable in a witch’s garden gets her husband in hot water with the enchantress and her henchmen. Amidst the witch’s terrorizing tactics, the poor man promises his first born child in exchange for freedom. It’s said baby that ends up whisked away by the evil woman and locked into the legendary tower.
Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m.
