If you’ve enjoyed South of the Salt Line’s last two productions, we’ve got great news for you. You don’t have to wait so long for your next big dose of fun.
Word has it Mobile’s most ribald satirists are planning to stage “Ambushed by the Holy Majority” at Mobile Theatre Guild sooner than the winter shows we’ve seen for the past couple of Januarys. The show “Ambushed by the Holy Majority” carries a few more political themes than the previous offerings and Salt Line is aiming for an October run at Mobile Theatre Guild, just before Alabama’s gubernatorial election.
Part of the reason for the change in dates is a one-man show scheduled for a January 2015 premiere. “The Very Last Southern Gentleman,” will feature the solo efforts of Salt Line founder Tom Perez and early reports have it being staged at Bernheim Hall.
Our sources also say the Bernheim Hall gig will feature a preview from a recently relocated Mobilian. Actor Steve Evans has returned to the Azalea City after a decade in Chicago and will enact excerpts from “My Life with the Shawnee,” a one-man show he penned and performed for the annual Abbie Hoffman Died for My Sins Theater Festival in the Windy City.
