Daphne-based Southern View Media, co-owned by the husband-and-wife team of Brad and Michelle Murrill, reported this past Monday on completing the purchase of the Daphne Square office complex, located at 25369 Hwy. 98 in Daphne, for $744,000. The site sits on roughly three acres of land with a building floor plan of 12,000 square feet.
Previous ownership of the site was held by Mobile-based attorney Byron Lassiter through a holding company. Philip Hodgson with Coldwell Banker Reehl Properties Inc. represented the seller in the transaction.
Brittany Reeves with Roberts Brothers Inc. worked for the buyer, Southern View Media, in the deal. Melinda McGhee, vice president of United Bank in Daphne, secured financing for the purchase of the site.
In addition to owning the space, Southern View will assume full duties as property managers overseeing five businesses currently renting space at the complex. Tenant mix is currently comprised of a law firm, insurance companies, home health care and a family therapy practice.
To date, only 1,200 square feet of available office space remains for lease. Southern View Media has claimed 1,800 square feet for new office space that will be move-in ready by late March.
“Leasable office space currently covers about 8,000 square feet, with the lobby area taking up 5,000 square feet inside the property. That will change,” Michelle Murrill said in a phone interview. “So far, we have converted 1,500 square feet of the lobby floor plan for tenants to have a flexible space to handle business in between meetings, and plan to expand on that shared workspace concept moving forward.”
She went on to say after the initial 90-day upgrades — sinking an estimated $60,000 into new flooring, painting, electrical, structural, security and landscaping needs using local contractors — the company plans to host networking events for business owners, as well as offer conference room space.
Daphne Square was built in 1993 and has been home to several real estate offices, banks and insurance agencies, but it is reportedly most well known for previously housing the Baldwin County Real Estate School, the space Southern View Media will soon occupy.
A grand opening and ribbon cutting sponsored by the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce for the modernized space will be held sometime in early June.
Southern View Media is a marketing agency offering in-house digital services such as custom website design and development, logo design, search engine optimization (SEO) and social media content creation, among other services. The company currently employs 14 with offices in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.
Any local businesses, entrepreneurs or freelancers interested in finding out more about upcoming and ongoing shared workspace availability can contact Southern View Media for more information.

Last week, AM/NS Calvert held a groundbreaking for its $775 million steelmaking plant expansion. The investment in the Calvert-based site was initially announced in December 2020 by ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel Corporation, the 50/50 joint venture partners for AM/NS Calvert.
Once completed, the planned facility will be capable of producing 1.5 megatons of steel slabs for their hot-strip mill, producing a broad spectrum of steel grades required for Calvert’s end-user markets. Buildout is anticipated to wrap up midway through 2023, and the new site is expected to spin out 200 direct and 100 indirect jobs in the community.
“When two of the leading steel companies — ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel — make a significant investment such as this, the world takes notice,” Bill Sisson, president and CEO of the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, said.
“This announcement shows great confidence in the Mobile area, and for that we are grateful. The capital investment and construction, along with the hundreds of permanent and indirect jobs will benefit area suppliers and local families for years to come.”
