Gary Sinise (left) made an appearance in Mobile and Morgan Freeman dined at a restaurant in Orange Beach.
There were a couple of celebrity sightings in the area, and it snowed in Mobile last week – well kind of, at least on one street. And start exercising your vocal chords because a popular television show is coming to town.
It’s been such a busy week, the spies are going to want overtime. Don’t worry about them, they get paid in vodka. I can spring for the big bottle! Yes, the one with the handle.
Well, let’s get to it. I have to get back outside so I can complain about the heat non-stop, like everyone else who lives here. So dive on in to this refreshing spring of gossip. It’s guaranteed to keep you cool – I mean, if you are reading this in your home or office. If not, well, then not so much.
THAT MF WAS IN THE OB
Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman was spotted last week in Orange Beach, dining in Big Fish Restaurant & Bar on Canal Road. The restaurant posted a pic of him on their Facebook page on May 30, with a caption reading, “Cool to have this guy in the house! #BigFishStyle Morgan Freeman thank u for having dinner with us! #thecoolestguyever #thevoiceofgod”
He does indeed have the voice of God, I mean, if she were a man. Just kidding. I think God has a robot voice.
DAN THE MAN
Gary Sinise, best known for his role as Lt. Dan in “Forrest Gump,” written by our very own Winston Groom, is in town filming the new Christian film in production, “I Still Believe.” Sinise, who is a huge supporter of the military, took time out of filming to play along with his band (which is named what else but the Lt. Dan Band) out at the Coast Guard Aviation Training Center.
The Coast Guard wrote these words of gratitude on their Facebook page about his visit, “Special thank you to Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band and the Gary Sinise Foundation for putting on an incredible show for Coast Guard members and their families in the Mobile area. The Gary Sinise Foundation serves our Nation by honoring veterans, first responders, and their families. We were honored for the production team to reach out and offer to perform at ATC Mobile. Thank you!!”
This restores my faith in humanity… at least for a minute.
SNOW IN THE OGD?
Speaking of the film, “I Still Believe,” we hear through some sort of Hollywood magic, they were able to make it appear that it had snowed in a yard on Selma Street near Roper in the Oakleigh Garden District. Snow in a yard? In Mobile? In May? Yes, yes and yes! I know, it’s crazy but it actually looked real. Can we please hose down the whole city in this stuff on Christmas morning? I’m willing for my tax dollars to pay for this just once. Anyway, we did hear they had a couple of “electrical issues” while borrowing power from the neighbors but all of the issues were ultimately resolved – at least that’s what the spies were told.
I hear Shania Twain is also in this film if that impresses you much. Have not heard of any Shania sightings yet though.
“AMERICAN IDOL” AUDITIONS TO BE HELD IN MOBILE
“American Idol” announced it will be holding auditions in Mobile on Tuesday, Aug. 20. So if you dream of becoming the next Kelly or Carrie, start practicing! No word on location yet, but you can find out more information on americanidol.com/auditions.
Well kids, that’s all I have this week. Just remember, whether rain or shine, dramatic or scandalous, or some plain ol’ Lt. Dan lovin’, I will be there. Ciao!
