Alabama stars falling on Alabama eateries
Former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback and National Championship winner Mac Jones was spotted at the Fairhope Inn dining with his family last week, according to a post on the Fairhope Inn’s Facebook page. Jones is expected to be a first-round pick in the NFL draft. Roll Tide!

Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman was spotted in Mikato Japanese Steakhouse in Gulf Shores last week. The owner of the restaurant posted pics and these kind words about the actor on their Facebook page: “I’ve been in the restaurant business for over 30 years. It was such an honor to host the legend himself, Mr. Morgan Freeman.”
Rumor has it Freeman has a home in the area. He also has a ranch in Charleston, Miss.
‘Being John Malkovich’ at The Red Bar
Speaking of Hollywood A-listers being at the beach, Oscar-nominated actor John Malkovich was spotted this week at a bar almost as legendary as him, The Red Bar. The SoWal Facebook page posted a pic of Malkovich along with Red Bar owner Oliver Petit. Hell, it must be time for me to head down to the beach.

The following are some of the stranger incidents taken from Mobile Police Department reports over the last week. As always, presented without names or comment ….
Domestic Violence Third, Harassment
On Thursday, March 4 at approximately 6:24 p.m., police responded to a local Popeyes in reference to a domestic complaint. The victim stated she got into a physical altercation with the subject over some house keys. She said the subject came to her job harassing her. Upon arrival, officers located the subject and took him into custody.
On Thursday, March 4 at approximately 11:35 p.m., police responded to the Extended Suites in reference to a civil dispute over a TV. The victim stated the subject entered the victim’s room and took possession of the TV without her permission to do so.
On Saturday, March 6 at approximately 1:35 p.m., police responded to Tara Drive North in reference to a suspicious complaint. Upon arrival, the family members stated they discovered some old flares and some tear gas inside of their mother’s garage. EOD officers responded to the scene and secured the items for safe disposal.
On Sunday, March 7 at approximately 12:50 p.m., police responded to Hamilton Boulevard between Hwy. 90 and Todd Acres Boulevard in reference to a train derailment. Upon arrival, officers discovered three CSX tankers rolled over on the embankment. Mobile Fire Rescue Haz-Mat responded and detected no leaks.
