Mayor Sandy Stimpson selected leaders from the Mobile financial community to create a new audit committee for the city.
This committee will be tasked with improving basic internal processes and ensuring financial stewardship within city government.
“These leaders will apply their talents to find solutions for the broken parts of our system,” Stimpson said. “They will pinpoint where Mobile doesn’t measure up to our sister cities and offer recommendations on how to raise our standards.”
Areas of focus will be determined by the committee, but may include city procurement and permitting, among other areas.
Members of the committee include Manny Estrada, CFO of International Shipholding Corp.; Amy deGruy, CPA for Russell Thompson Butler & Houston; Jeb Shell, CFO of Hargrove Engineers + Constructors; Tyrone Fenderson, President of Commonwealth National Bank; Susan Cornejo, CFO of Providence Health System; and John Calderon, CPA for Wood, Singleton, Hicks & Haiston.
