Mayor Sandy Stimpson is pleased to welcome the University of Alabama baseball team to Mobile to play a 3-game series against Lipscomb University at Hank Aaron Stadium, March 6 to 8.
“I am excited to host my alma mater, the University of Alabama Crimson Tide, to our charming, coastal city,” Stimpson said. “Baseball is a long-standing tradition in Mobile. More baseball Hall of Famers claim Mobile as their hometown than any other city in the country, except for New York. I hope everyone comes out to see these players compete at Hank Aaron Stadium—named after one of our greatest citizens.”
This is the first time the University of Alabama has played a weekend series at Hank Aaron Stadium and the first game the team has played a game in the stadium in more than 10 years.
A.J. McCarron, former University of Alabama quarterback, will throw out the first pitch on Friday, March 6 at 7 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m.
Alabama will play again on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. for the series finale.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.mobilebaybears.com, or by phone at 251-479-BEAR (2327). Tickets can also be purchased at the box office at Hank Aaron Stadium every day this week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
